Those large, high arched windows in foyers and great rooms are beautiful and add a lot of natural light to your home, however, they are also tough to cover with shades or blinds. Who wants to have to dust or clean window treatments that are 15 feet up?? And in the winter especially, the lower sun will often catch them straight on.
Luckily, this home owner is about to have window film installed, which will certainly take the edge off that glare in the same way that sunglasses take the edge off the sun’s glare when you’re outside. Keep in mind, sunglasses are typically letting in only 5-10% of visible light, whereas most homeowners like to keep 20-60% of their visible light, so you probably will still have a little bit of a squint during the most direct sun times, but that will feel so much more comfortable than a full on blinding! Plus, you’ll get the additional protection from skin cancer and interiors fading!
